Climate Change Centre Austria (CCCA)

Foundation
The CCCA has been officially established in July 2011 as a coordinating facility to promote and support climate research in Austria with particular focus on:

    • Strengthening the climate research landscape in Austria
    • Facilitating the education of a new generation of researchers and supporting knowledge transfer
    • Advising politics and society

Climate Research
In this context, the term “climate research” encompasses the scientific examination of

  • climate change
  • the causes of climate change (physical, political, economic, cultural, social)
  • consequences of climate change for society, economy, environment
  • climate mitigation / adaptation strategies
  • identification of vulnerabilities / capacities

Mitigation and adaptation include the design and application of measures (governance) as well as changes to societal patterns of production, consumption and behaviour in the context of climate change.

Interested in Membership?
Members and, as such, bearers of the centre are Austrian institutions whose functions include scientific examination of climate change and who also carry out climate research in the sense of the Climate Change Centre Austria.

Institutions who are interested in the activities and the continued ideal or material furtherance of the Climate Change Centre Austria, but do not carry out climate research themselves, can join the Climate Change Centre Austria as a partner.
